Placing ads strategically and effectively on a WordPress site requires effective management of the ads. Ad plugins for WordPress handle these management activities. Some WordPress themes provide ad management, but if you need more functionality, or your theme doesn’t have ad management features, consider an Ad Manager plugin. These plugins offer varying degrees of functionality Many of them allow you to display affiliate banners, sell advertising space, run Google AdSense, rotate ads, etc.
Here is a quick overview of some great advertising management plugins:
AdSanity
AdSanity is a light ad rotator plugin for WordPress. It’s one of the newest plugins but is really promising. It allows the user to create and manage ads show on a site and keep statistics on views and clicks. One of the main goals of AdSanity is to keep management simple. Users familiar with managing posts and categories will find managing ads and groups easy.
AdSanity currently allows for two publishing options β infinite or date-based β for the initial release. Admins can quickly learn how ads are performing on the site. Admins can also call up custom stats for selected ads in a defined date range.
AdSanity makes it easy to get ads displaying on the sidebar of your WordPress website, it automatically tracks how your ads and will report to you all the information youβll need to see how your ads are performing.
Advanced Ads
Are you looking for a simple ad manager plugin? These are the top arguments to use Advanced Ads:

- unlimited ad units
- GDPR support: hide ads until consent is given
- works with all ad types and networks (e.g. AdSense or Amazon ads)

- best rated support
WP Pro Advertising System
The βWP PRO Advertising Systemβ WordPress Plugin allows you to manage advertisements on your WordPress site. It has many powerful features to put advertisements on your website, manage advertisers, campaigns, banners & adzones, track clicks, impressions & CTR all in just a few seconds.
If you are looking for a simple, easy but very professional way to manage advertisements on your website this plugin is what you’re looking for!
My favorites are Advanced Ads and AdSanity. Some notes on the two of them:
Interface: I prefer AdSanity, it’s more intuitive and in my opinion better.
Multilingual: Advanced Ads has geolocation support while AdSanity doesn’t.
Ad Placement: Advanced Ads has a better way of managing this as it has graphical options for placing the ads within content, while AdSanity relies on widgets, shortcodes and PHP snippets.
Responsive Ads: Advanced Ads allows you to select whether to display ads on mobile devices or not, and gives some other related options, while AdSanity leaves it up to you to control via CSS. Ultimately for the typical user Advanced Ads is easier to configure if you want different behavior between desktop and mobile for your ads.
What’s been your experience with ad plugins? Which ones do you recommend?

Hey! AdSanity is excellent plugin for the ad placement. Want to update with this in future information. I Like explained features of plugin.
I tried Ads for WP on one of my sites and to be honest: the time I spent on it, was wasted. I was curious because it seems to provide almost the same functions as Advanced Ads, which I currently use on most of them. But Ads for WP is only a lousy copy of Advanced Ads. If you know the original, you immediately notice that even the used terms in the backend are copied 1:1.
Most funny was the Advanced Ads importer, which did not work at all. Where is the benefit of importing titles of ad units without ad codes, uploaded images or any other information?
If you are looking for an ad manager, save your time and choose a working solution like Advanced Ads or Ad Rotate.
Thanks for your feedback Sebastian.
