This week I spent some time reading through Chris Lema’s latest book, The Price is Right. As the title infers, it’s all about pricing. Since there’s been a lot of discussion about pricing in the WordPress community during the past year, I was very interested in going through this material.
If you’re a regular reader of Chris Lema’s blog, or if you’ve had the chance to watch him speak at a conference, you’ll know one thing; he loves telling stories.
That’s the formula he uses throughout this book, and it works amazingly well. Most business books have my mind drifting away within minutes, but Chris keeps things simple and to the point. For each important take away he wants to share with you, there’s a story, which keeps things exciting but more importantly makes it much easier to remember what you’ve read after you’re done with the book.
It won’t take you long to get through this (took me an hour and a half), but there’s plenty of material to keep your brain buzzing for days. Highly recommended for anyone who has a direct say in the pricing of products or services, especially those with a non-business background. Pricing is a very interesting but immensely tricky subject; with the nuggets you’ll get from The Price is Right I guarantee you’ll be in a better position to optimize the price of whatever it is you’re selling.
