If your WordPress site has been getting traffic but lacks the email subscribers, leads, and sales numbers to show for it, you could have a conversion problem. Many websites look good, but some arenβt designed to convert visitors into subscribers or customers. This is the focus of our Leadpages review β essentially a landing page builder.
The job of a landing page to is encourage visitors to take a specific action, whether thatβs joining your email list, booking a call, or even buying a product. A builder such as Leadpages will help to simplify this process in part through customizable templates that prioritize conversions.Β
Below, Iβll take an in-depth look into a popular landing page builder with this Leadpages review. Youβll learn about the unique features of this landing page builder, see how it works in real time, learn what real users think, and finally, see if it fits your budget.
Introducing Leadpages
Leadpages is a platform that lets you build high-converting landing pages. It includes a drag-and-drop builder and a template library to create pages with high conversion opportunities. Best of all, you won’t need coding knowledge or prior experience.
To integrate Leadpages with WordPress, there’s a dedicated Leadpages plugin that will help to publish your landing pages. It includes functionality such as a ‘conversion rating’ meter, pop-ups, alert bars, and A/B testing. The whole packages looks to assist in getting the best conversions possible for your site.
The tool itself includes a lot of this functionality too, and more:
- There’s a straightforward drag-and-drop editor that doesn’t need development or coding knowledge.
- You’ll choose a design from the template library, all of which focuses on conversion optimization.
- Speaking of which, Leadpages offers tools such as alert bars and popups you can add anywhere on your site, along with split testing to help skyrocket your conversions. Analytics on these elements will also give you further insights.
- There are a few related tools in the bundle, such as an AI writing assistant, lead management functionality, and more.
- You’re able to integrate third-party tools into Leadpages too, along with Zapier. I’ll talk about this in more detail later.
Finally, you can also find a variety of support resources for Leadpages. This includes live chat, email, a self-serve knowledge base, and marketing library. On the whole, Leadpages will be ideal if you like the look of your traffic numbers, but don’t see many email subscribers, leads, or customers.
Leadpages Review: How to Build Your Own High-Converting Landing Pages
There are two parts to the setup and integration of Leadpages, and I’ll cover both in this review. First, you’ll need to connect WordPress and Leadpages using a plugin. After, you’ll build inside Leadpages, then publish those landing pages to your existing WordPress website.
For this Leadpages review, I’m using the Pro version. I’ll discuss the plans in more detail later on, although to follow along, any plan will work.
Connecting WordPress and Leadpages
With that said, let’s get into the platform. First, you’ll want to install and activate the Leadpages plugin from the WordPress Plugin Directory. Within WordPresss still, click the Leadpages menu option to either log in to your account or sign up.
If you click Sign Up Free, you’ll need to select a plan and enter your information. Then, return to your WordPress dashboard and click the Login button. There’s a final authorization step in order to access your landing pages inside WordPress:
Once you connect the two, you can access all the landing pages you’ve created with Leadpages inside WordPress. You can publish these live directly from WordPress, and any changes you make within Leadpages will automatically go live on your site.
From here, you’ll want to begin building your own landing pages.
Create a Landing Page and View the Template Library
Now, let’s get into the landing page builder tools inside Leadpages. To create a landing page, head to your Leadpages dashboard and click the Landing Pages menu option. There are a couple of buttons to create a new landing page here:
My advice is to start with a template from the dedicated library. This includes hundreds of pre-built examples. Because they’ve been designed with typical conversion practices in mind, much of the hard work you’d have to do is already complete.
From here, you’ll want to customize the template you choose.
Using The Drag-and-Drop Landing Page Builder
Once you select a template, you can customize it using the drag-and-drop builder. First, you can customize nearly every element of the page. To do this, click on an element to bring up an options menu. You can also drag and drop any existing landing page elements to rearrange the page.
Your landing page breaks down into different content sections. Clicking the Layout menu option will show you the various sections of your page. When you click on any of the sections, it’ll show you all active content elements.
Sections are different vertical elements of each landing page. You can add sections within the Layout section or click on the Section menu option to browse through the list of options. You’ll find elements such as countdown timers, FAQ sections, hero images, pricing breakdowns, testimonials, opt-in forms, and more. Once you find a section, drag it over to your landing page.
To add content to a Section, you’ll need Widgets. There are forms, buttons, progress bars, Calendly embeds, icons, video, text, and more. To add a widget, drag it over to one of your page sections.
Styles are the global style settings for your page. Here, you can control your button fonts and color, page-wide font styles, background colors, favicon, and more. You can even add custom CSS for even greater control over the appearance.
The last option you have in the builder is the Settings. Here, you’ll add the SEO title, description, and focus keywords. This is similar to adding your SEO metadata using a WordPress plugin such as Yoast SEO. You can also set your social media sharing settings, add analytics tracking code, and change the language of the page here.
This is the core of building landing pages, but there’s more to discover. I’ll look at some of these more closely over the next few sections.
Built-In AI Writing Assistant
If you need help writing copy for your landing page, fire up the AI writing assistant. This tool can generate copy suggestions with a single click and lets you select the use case and tone you desire. The Pro plan includes 30,000 credits per month, but you can also purchase more credits if you’re using the AI tool a lot.
Leadmeter
Another cool feature is the ‘Leadmeter’. This analyzes your page for proven conversion factors and gives you a real-time score. You’ll see it in the top toolbar. Clicking it shows you the optimization rating for your page and any changes you can make to elevate conversions.
Even better, choosing one of the high-converting templates to start building with will give you perfect optimization from the start.
Checkout Forms
Leadpages lets you accept payments within your landing pages through Checkouts. This is available on the Pro plan or higher. You’ll use the Checkouts widget on your landing page, and all payments process through Stripe. As such, you’ll also need a Stripe account.
Once you set it up, it can be an easy way to accept payments for services, sell digital products, and accept recurring payments. This direct integration is a simple experience with less friction, which could lead to more sales.
Pop-Ups and Alert Bars
To improve conversions further, Leadpages includes two different tools: pop-ups and alert bars. You can set up both of these from your Leadpages dashboard.
To create them you’ll use a similar interface to the landing page builder. Plus, you can add both to any and all landing pages. Like landing pages, you’ll get individual analytics data to see conversion and performance data.
A/B Testing
A/B or split testing essentially lets you run experiments to improve your conversion rates. You can test aspects such as the color of your buttons, different pricing options, headlines, videos, and more. By running testing campaigns, you can learn what compels your audience to take action.
You can create and manage split tests with ease within Leadpages. The plan is to create multiple versions of the same page, show those different variations to your visitors, then see which page gets a higher conversion rate. Over time, you’ll learn a lot about your audience while improving your conversions.
Analytics and tracking
Leadpages offers built-in analytics for every page you publish. You’re able to see the total number of views, unique views, conversions, conversion rate, and earnings for every page (if you’re using Checkouts). There’s even a way to integrate with Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel if you need more from the metrics.
Integrations
Leadpages also offers a few different integrations, mostly for email marketing platforms and Customer Relationship Managers (CRMs). This makes it easy to create email marketing campaigns or manage customers using your Leadpages data. As with many integrations, you’d need an API key to connect the two accounts.
There are a batch of native integrations to choose from, along with nearly 100 others available through Zapier. These include tools like ActiveCampaign, Clickup, Drip, Slack, SendFox, Trello, and more.
Leadpages Review: Pricing
The pricing for Leadpages is straightforward. There are two main plans β Standard and Pro β and an Advanced plan that requires you to contact the team for a quote.
For monthly billing, the Standard plan is $49 per month. With annual billing, this drops to $37 per month, which amounts to a $144 annual saving. The Pro plan is $99 per month, or the equivalent of $74 on annual billing.
The biggest difference between the Standard and Pro plans is that with the Pro plan, you can create as many landing pages as you need. You can also use the tool on three websites, and get access to the checkout integration and AI writing assistant.
Ultimately, choosing between the two plans depends on your site’s current goals. The Standard plan is for sites that are new to lead generation. If you need more, get a lot of traffic, run ads successfully, and need unlimited landing pages, opt for the Pro plan.
Leadpages Review: Customer Support
For such a wealth of functionality, you’d want there to be plenty of support options. Leadpages offers a number of channels:
- Live chat support. You can access this on Pro and Advanced plans, Monday to Friday during typical business hours.
- Email ticketed support. Response times here are around 24 to 48 hours after submission.
- Self-support resources. There are self-serve resources and a knowledge base to help start you off, use the builder, manage your account, set up integrations, view your analytics, and more.
- Marketing resources. There are other passive resources available, such as a podcast, a blog, in-depth lead generation and optimization guides, and much more.
Overall, Leadpages offers a lot of help. You should find what you need whether you need real-time help, self-serve support, or expert resources.
Leadpages Review: Real User Feedback
At the time of writing, Leadpages gets a 4.6 out of five average rating with 294 reviews on Capterra. The positive reviews speak about usability and how easy integrations are to implement. Many users also love the quality of the template library.
However, some users do have criticism about Leadpages. The need for more design flexibility is a key sticking point. Even though you can fully customize every part of the page, you can only do so within the template’s structure. While this preserves the conversion elements in place within the template, there’s a clear need for more design freedom in some cases.
There are a handful of negative reviews for the platform too. However, a lot of these are years old, and most relate to billing. Some users complain about charges once the free trial is complete; others forget to cancel their membership, which isn’t eligible for a refund.
I looked over the billing terms to check if this was an oversight by the reviewers or whether Leadpages could improve here. Those terms are clear to me, as is the cancellation and refund policy. If you’re going to use the free trial though, remember to cancel before it finishes.
Leadpages Review: My Take On Whether It’s the Right Landing Page Builder For You
Overall, Iβm a big fan of Leadpages. The templates use actual platform data to influence the designs, so they’re going to work without further customization. Plus, with A/B testing, alert bars, and pop-ups, you can ensure you have the tools you need to improve conversions across your site.
In my opinion, there are only two real downsides. Leadpages is not as flexible as other builder tools, and the cost could be prohibitive. From an ROI perspective though, you should improve conversions with Leadpages. This could be an investment rather than a big purchase.
