Regardless of your choice of AI coding agent, if you ask it to fix a broken WordPress site, without the right tools you’ll simply be handed back a solution rather than a fix. The agent can write the necessary PHP, but it’s your job to copy, upload, organize, and test it. My Novamira review looks at a plugin to help remove that middle step.
Novamira connects an external AI agent to a WordPress installation through the Model Context Protocol, or MCP.
Novamira connects an external AI agent to a WordPress installation in one of two ways. The first is through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which is the default and still the way for chat-only clients. The other is the Novamira CLI, a leaner path for terminal agents like Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI. You get the same Novamira and the same abilities either way, so it’s only the way in that changes.
Once connected, the agent runs PHP inside the WordPress process, queries the database, reads and edits files, and executes WP-CLI commands against the site itself rather than a description of it. This review comes off of the back of our introductory Novamira post, so check that out first then jump back here for the full story.
Novamira Review: Fast Facts
- The core Novamira plugin is free and open source, while Novamira Pro is an optional add-on with plans starting at €49 a year.
- Once connected, the agent executes PHP inside WordPress and queries the database directly, rather than working from a general description of the site.
- The connection runs through the open Model Context Protocol, so any MCP-compatible client, can connect without locking you into one AI provider.
Novamira Review: Pricing
Novamira’s core plugin costs nothing and carries no site limit, which sets the baseline before any premium pricing comes into it.

There are three Pro tiers that use either annual pricing or a single lifetime payment based on the number of sites you want to install Novamira on:
- Personal at €69 per year covers three sites.
- Agency at €149 per year covers up to a thousand sites
- Agency Lifetime is a €299 single-time cost that covers the same thousand-site limit.
Each plan comes with a year of updates and support (it’s ongoing support for the Agency Lifetime plan).
A ‘site’ in this instance is any production or staging installation using an active license. Deactivating a license will free the slot up. One upgrade I feel is cool enough to mention is that you can convert an Annual license to a Lifetime one within the first 30 days.
However, none of this includes your subscription to an AI platform: Novamira doesn’t meter actions on its own side, so a separate Claude, Cursor, or similar plan sits on top of whichever tier you pick.
What Does Novamira Pro Add?
The free plugin already carries the connection, the PHP execution, and the file access, so Pro’s job is to give the agent a head start on the specific builder or plugin it has been asked to touch.
For instance, if you ask a free-connected agent to change a page built in Etch, it will read the page’s storage format before it can act. Ask the same question through Pro and you’ll find the structure is already loaded, so the conversation goes straight to the change.
Novamira Pro currently covers 38 builders, themes, Blocks, forms, field plugins, and SEO products as at the time of writing (the list keeps growing)p. This includes all your favorites such as Elementor, Bricks, Divi, WooCommerce, ACF, and Yoast SEO.
Pro also adds Memory, which is knowledge that persists between sessions, so you state your preferred plugin prefix or a past architectural decision once rather than re-explaining it in every new chat.
Skills are a separate feature doing a separate job, and they ship with both free and Pro tiers. They’re short Markdown playbooks the agent pulls in only when a task matches the description, so something like a publishing procedure or a naming convention fires when it’s relevant and stays dormant otherwise. You don’t have to write them by hand, either. Novamira includes a built-in skill-creator, so you can ask the agent to write a skill and review the draft from the Novamira admin.

Which plan you choose will depend: Personal is suitable for freelancers or small agencies working across a handful of sites. Agency and Agency Lifetime will suit a team running a full client roster through a single license.
Novamira Review: How It Lets You ‘Fix’ WordPress’ Code
Every ‘vanilla’ AI coding agent runs into the same wall the moment it meets WordPress: it can describe a fix but can’t see the site. It doesn’t know the active theme, the installed plugins, the database structure, or the page builder underneath a given design.
It’s a familiar loop if you’ve pasted AI-suggested PHP into your site:
- The agent proposes a solution based on a general description of WordPress rather than the actual site.
- A person copies that code, decides where it belongs, and uploads it by hand.
- Any error that surfaces gets copied back to the agent, and the cycle starts over.
Novamira cuts inside the WordPress install and exposes it through the MCP. This lets the AI agent read your site directly, then write and test code against the real environment in the same conversation.
The connection can also run without a hosted middle layer. Here, the AI client talks to the WordPress site directly while no site data passes through the Novamira servers. The user’s chosen AI provider can still process whatever the agent sends it, but Novamira doesn’t sit between the two.
Novamira Review: Setting Up and Trying Novamira
Setup starts with a typical plugin install, although the free Novamira plugin isn’t on the WordPress Plugin directory so you’ll need to download it from the website. I’m installing both plugins to access the premium options, so your setup might differ. For your Pro license, add this to the Novamira > License screen within WordPress.
Regardless, once the plugin is activated, open the Novamira > Configuration screen within WordPress.

The only button here for now is to enable AI abilities, which you want to do! After you save your settings, it will run through a few more options, such as authentication and choosing your preferred LLM client.
This will generate ready-to-use connection instructions for whichever MCP-compatible tool you’re using.

After this, you can test everything by simply asking the agent to list the plugins active on the site. A working connection reaches for the Execute PHP ability, runs a query against the database, and returns the plugin list inside the same reply, rather than a guess based on what a typical WordPress site might have installed.

From that point, the same connection carries every other request. A dedicated walkthrough of those individual tasks is worth its own post (a full tutorial is on the way!), but the shape of a session tends to follow the same path:
- The agent reads the relevant part of the site.
- It writes and tests code directly against that environment, rather than handing back a snippet to test by hand.
- It reports what changed, so the result of a bulk edit or a debugging session is visible without digging through logs afterward.
This loop is the nutshell of Novamira, although there are other aspects (such as Novamira Design) that work on specific facets of your site.
Novamira Review: Is Novamira Safe?
Novamira gives your AI agent the same WordPress access as you do. As such, it treats the decision to hand over deliberately rather than by default. Having to turn on the AI abilities option is a case in point.
Every connection runs through WordPress’s own authentication layer with access granted via an Application Password or OAuth from wp-admin. This makes the agent’s abilities unavailable to anyone else on the site.
Novamira builds several protections on top of this foundation:
- New PHP files the agent writes go into a dedicated sandbox folder, where a crash detector catches fatal errors and disables the offending file without taking the site down, cutting off the agent with it. And to clarify furthera, the sandbox controls where new PHP gets written, not what it can do once it runs, and direct PHP execution bypasses it entirely with the full reach of anything PHP can do. It exists for crash recovery rather than to fence the agent in, which is by design, and it’s why the abilities belong on staging.
- Every direct PHP call has a runtime that closes off ‘runaway’ scripts.
- A safe mode flag skips every sandbox file at once, which is a fast, manual way to stop AI-written code from loading.
- The Abilities Hub lists every ability Novamira and other plugins expose, so access can be narrowed at any time.
The recommendation is to run Novamira on development and staging environments with current backups, the same habit you’ll likely already have. Overall, Novamira gives an AI agent the access a trusted developer would have, along with the visibility and controls to match.
Novamira Review: Documentation and Support
Novamira’s documentation is deeper than it appears, which is good news if you need a thorough answer to a query.

For instance, the connection guide walks through authentication and setup and includes ready-made config snippets for several AI solutions. Free users get that documentation plus community support through the Novamira community on Facebook and bug reports through GitHub.
Pro adds direct support through your account, although there’s also a live chat option available:

Finally, I originally wanted to have straightforward access or connection with the Novamira docs. For instance, I could ask Cursor to fetch a specific page for reference or follow the instructions on it. I didn’t initally see a direct way to do that, so put in a request to the developer.
However, I’m informed that Novamira builds the relevant docs into the request context! This is a cool inclusion and it means you get all of the positives of the documentation without having to do any set up.
Novamira Review: Is It Right for You?
Novamira is an excellent bridge between an AI agent that can suggest WordPress code and one that can act on it. The free plugin carries that entire premise on its own! The Pro tiers are worth picking up once a specific builder or plugin shows up often enough in your work to make the specialization pay for itself. However, getting there means treating full PHP access with the same care as any other tool that reaches a live server.
