The free version of Spotlight, our newest product, picked up the pace at launch, growing from zero to 20,000+ active installs in just 12 months. But the conversion rate was lacking.

After some tinkering, we introduced targeted upgrade call-to-actions throughout the UI, aimed at specific areas that show the most value to the user. Understanding where and how to implement these call-to-actions took our conversion rate* from ~5% to over 9%.

A visual onboarding experience resulted in a 57.6% increase in monthly revenue.

Spotlight kept growing nicely into 2022, but we knew it could do better. That’s when we worked on a new guided and visual on-boarding experience to show people the real potential of what they could create with the product, resulting in an increase in conversions from free to premium of 57%.

A pricing experiment produced a 4% increase in annual revenue, with no loss in sales.

One of our products had been performing well for many years. Throughout that time, we experimented with various pricing changes. From dropping the price below $100 to switching pricing model, it’s been through quite quite a few changes.

One of the easiest changes with the biggest return on investment was a simple pricing increase. Given the product’s price point, customers had no problem paying a bit more. By the end of the year, it had resulted in a 4% increase in annual revenue.

Mark Zahra

He has been in the digital product space since 2014. Having worked in customer support, project management, UI/UX design, Mark is now the CEO of RebelCode, the team behind WP Mayor, Spotlight Instagram Feeds, and WP RSS Aggregator.

Mark is the one who tests a new update, and within a few minutes, notes down the missing pixel, a new feature idea for the future, or a new upsell opportunity that was previously missed.


As WP Mayor's Editorial Manager and a Support Specialist at Spotlight, Jessie is constantly researching products from every perspective. With plenty of experience in the WordPress space, she understands the market better than most.

Jessie is the one who sees what’s inside the box, what’s outside the box, and what should be packed up in a box and shipped to some island never to be seen again.


With a Masters in Architecture and a keen eye for design, Gaby took that experience into digital products and has been the mastermind behind the beautiful websites and UI designs for both WP Mayor and Spotlight Instagram Feeds.

Gaby is the one with great posture, because she understands that design is the body language of your marketing, and she doesn’t slouch.
