Personalization is crucial for eCommerce and membership sites. Tailored content and offers make customers feel valued, boosting engagement and conversions. While WordPress and WooCommerce offer customization, implementing specific personalized tactics can be tricky.
That’s where PersonalizeWP comes in. This plugin packs a punch, offering features and integrations to skyrocket your sales. Let’s dive into how it can reshape your site from generic to genuinely personal, turning casual browsers into loyal customers.
What is PersonalizeWP?

PersonalizeWP aims to bring advanced personalization to WordPress without coding. It works seamlessly with the Block Editor and WooCommerce (along with plenty more integrations), letting you create tailored content and product recommendations effortlessly.
The plugin offers pre-defined and custom rules to display content based on visitor location, device type, user status, and more.
Whether you’re running a blog or online store, PersonalizeWP could help you build a site that speaks with your audience and drives conversions. The best part? Many of its features are entirely free to use!
How Could PersonalizeWP Help Keep Your Visitors Engaged?
By creating dynamic content tailored to visitors’ interests and behaviors, PersonalizeWP aims to transform your website into a personalized experience for each user.
As of now, PersonalizeWP integrates out of the box with Gravity Forms, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), WSForm, Kadence Blocks, Ninja Forms, and, of course, WooCommerce.

These limited integrations could be a significant drawback, especially considering it doesn’t yet integrate with Elementor – one of, if not the most popular, WordPress page builders.
However, their website mentions that integration with Elementor is in the works. Likewise, you can submit requests for more integrations on their website.
Some Helpful Use Cases
Let’s dive into some interesting approaches to leverage PersonalizeWP to supercharge your website:
Captivating Landing Pages
PersonalizeWP lets you customize landing pages based on factors like location, traffic source, or URL parameters. This means visitors from different channels see content tailored to their journey.
For instance, you can show visitors a “Special discount for XYZ fans” message from a particular influencer’s link. The system also recognizes return users, allowing you to offer personalized deals or exclusive discounts.
This personalization improves user experience and can significantly boost conversion rates by making each visitor feel uniquely valued and may drive desired actions.
Responsive Web Design
Responsive design is crucial nowadays. But even with modern page builders, some layouts don’t translate well across devices.
Take, for example, large image carousels often become unwieldy on mobile devices. Similarly, multi-column layouts that look sleek on larger screens can become cluttered on smartphones. Even simple elements like call-to-action with specific text breaks can pose challenges on smaller displays.
PersonalizeWP lets you ditch the one-size-fits-all approach. Instead of compromising your design, you can create device-specific sections and show them only on relevant screens. This means you’re not just adapting your design but designing a better experience specific to the device.
Upselling & Cross-Selling
Upselling and cross-selling can boost your online store’s revenue, and PersonalizeWP Pro makes implementing these strategies easier. It can help you customize what customers see based on their cart, past purchases, and spending habits, showing the right products optimally.
But it doesn’t stop there. The visitor profiles feature digs deeper into user behavior, while lead scoring lets you assign points to different actions, helping identify high-value users.
For example, if a customer often buys high-end items, you can offer them exclusive deals on premium products. You can also suggest accessories like a lens or tripod for someone who just bought a camera.
This personalized approach works wonders β studies show that existing customers are 67% more likely to buy again and often choose pricier items. By leveraging PersonalizeWP’s features, you may not just boost sales but craft experiences that keep customers coming back for more.
Localize Content
The heart of localization is tailoring your website’s content and functionality to resonate with users across different languages, cultures, and preferences.
By presenting content that speaks directly to users and respects cultural nuances, you’re likely to see increased engagement and conversions.
PersonalizeWP’s geolocation features allow dynamic content adjustment based on a visitor’s location. You can display region-specific pricing, delivery times, or targeted offers relevant to particular countries. This enables highlighting trending local products, increasing the likelihood of users discovering items aligned with their preferences, viz., better purchase probability.
PersonalizeWP Review: How To Get Started
Now that I have gone over what PersonalizedWP is and its potential, let’s briefly examine some of its features and how to use them.
Creating Conditions
We’ll first have a brief look over how to actually set up a few conditions:
Show/Hide Content Based On Location
Creating a new rule is straightforward β go to WP-Admin > Personalize > Dashboard, click ‘Create Rule,’ and follow the fields to name your rule, assign it to a category, and then set up the location condition by choosing Conditions > User Location.
Next, you can choose the comparator, for which you’ll find options like ‘Equals’ or ‘Does Not Equal’ when selecting countries. PersonalizeWP allows for multiple country selections, which helps target broader regions.

You may add additional conditions to this rule by clicking on the little (+) Add button below the dropdowns. Once your rule is set up, click on ‘Create Rule.’
Show/Hide Content Based On Referrer
For referrer rules, choose “Referrer” from the dropdown with four comparators: Equals, Does Not Equal, Contains, and Does Not Contain. Enter your target domain to customize content based on visitor origin.

For query string rules, select “Query String” with comparators Equals, Does Not Equal, Contains, Does Not Contain, or Key/Value.

This personalizes content based on URL parameters after a question mark, formatted as key-value pairs. You may use it to tailor content to campaign sources, user preferences, or location data in the URL.
Show/Hide Content Based On Device
To personalize by device, create a rule and select ‘Device Type’ from the conditions. Use the ‘Equal To’ comparator to choose your target: Mobile/Tablet (Android, iOS, or both), Tablet, or Desktop.

Show/Hide Content Based On ‘Value’ (eCommerce)
PersonalizeWP offers several ways to customize content based on ‘value.’ You can set rules for items added to the cart using ‘Cart Contents’, with a simple true/false option.

The ‘Total Products Purchased’ condition works similarly, letting you personalize based on number of items the user has already purchased. You can use comparators like More Than, Less Than, or Equal To for total products purchased, entering a number from 0.

The ‘Total Spend’ condition works similarly, letting you personalize based on customer spending.

Finally, to show content after any purchase, use ‘Visitor Has Completed Purchase’ with a true/false option.

Do note that these WooCommerce-specific features are available only to Pro users.
Applying Conditions
The Personalize sidebar lets you apply rules to any block. Choose from active rules in the dropdown to show or hide content based on visitor status.

You can assign multiple rules to a block, even mixing types by clicking (+). This allows for more targeted content displays, like combining new visitor and logged-in status rules.

PersonalizeWP Review: Pricing
PersonalizeWP offers a competitive pricing structure that stands out from some competitors like If-So, which charges extra for geolocation features, while PersonalizeWP includes them across all its plans. Let’s break down the current pricing tiers:

- Free: The free version of the plugin, available on the WordPress plugin repository, provides all its essential features, such as personalization rules based on location, device, date, time, login status, source, and cookies.
- Pro: For $199/yr, you can upgrade to the Pro version, which entitles you to all the features of the free version, including visitor profiles, segmentation, lead scoring, and integration with WooCommerce, Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms, and WSForm.
- Pro Agency: For $499/yr, you get everything from the Pro version but a license to use it for up to 5 sites.
Smaller websites and bloggers just dipping their toes into personalization will find the free PersonalizeWP plan a solid starting point. It has enough features to give you a feel for how tailored content can impact user engagement.
The Pro plan offers advanced features such as visitor profiles for businesses looking to level up that could significantly improve your conversions and user experience. Managing multiple client sites or running several websites? The Pro Agency plan gives you the options at scale, making it ideal for agencies and larger companies.
PersonalizeWP Review: Support & Documentation
When you first install PersonalizeWP, you’re greeted with a quick video walk-through. It’s a nice touch, especially if you’re new to the plugin and trying to get your bearings.

The Knowledge Base is well-organized with clear headings, and well-detailed but it’s text-heavy with no visuals. If you’re a visual learner, you might find this challenging.
PersonalizeWP also offers a YouTube channel for video tutorials, though it’s not comprehensive. Their blog provides additional tips and real-world use cases, helping you maximize the plugin’s potential.
For direct support, there’s a contact form, and seems to be email-based, without a more convenient live chat option.
PersonalizeWP Review: Key Takeaways
Wrapping up this PersonalizeWP review, it’s clear that this tool is a powerhouse for WordPress and WooCommerce sites aiming to elevate engagement and drive sales.
While the free version caters well to small and medium businesses, the Pro version’s advanced features, like lead scoring and visitor profiles, offer exceptional value for its price. However, limited integrations with popular page builders may pose challenges for some users.
