Why Protecting Your WordPress Files is Important?
Average people upload files to their website and expect them to be safe. Thatβs unfortunately not that case.
Google and other search engines are indexing both your website content and files. They would display all of them in their search results especially when your files are accessible and popular. People could search for them and easily steal your valuable content for free within a matter of clicks.
Worse still, they would then share it with others people through Facebook groups and other private forums. As a result, more and more people will steal and use your images, ebooks, videos⦠for free without your permission and knowledge.
What are the consequences?
- You lose a lot of potential customers you couldβve had.
- You lose a huge income you deserve.
- Your revenue drops.
- Your business is at risk.
If you are serious about your online business, you need to protect your digital products from being downloaded, copied and shared without your permission. Itβs crucial that you protect them right now.
Now let me introduce you βPrevent Direct Accessβ WordPress plugin that helps you protect your WordPress media files easily and effortlessly even if youβre not tech savvy.
How can Prevent Direct Access help you?
Prevent Direct Access offers a simple yet very effective solution to secure your files without complex user authentication. It gives you the power to stop unwanted users from accessing and downloading your files without permission.
You may wonder how?
First, the plugin explicitly discourages Google and other search engines from indexing your protected WordPress files. As a result, they wouldnβt appear on Google search result anymore unlike other popular yet unprotected files. Itβs now very unlikely that people would be able to search and find your valuable ebooks and documents through search engines such as Google and Bings.
Second and more importantly, it blocks your filesβ original and unprotected links (URLs). So even in rare cases that people somehow manage to find your filesβ links, they still cannot access them thanks to Prevent Direct Access.
Last but not least, Prevent Direct Access gives you the power to allow specific roles of your website such as subscribers and editors to access your protected files with their original and unprotected links. In other words, you can protect your private files against the public, and at the same time, allows your subscribers to access them, which is precisely what you want if youβre running a membership website.
Do you need to protect and at the same time to share your confidential files with certain people?Β Do you need to track how many people click on your download links?Β Do you only want them to access the private files within 1 day?
Well, Prevent Direct Access Gold allows you to do all of that without writing a single line of code.

Everyone considering this should be wary of the terribly developer unfriendly licensing and pricing of this plugin. Do some research on their site before you buy. Their licenses don’t include dev and staging servers.
Hi Matt,
I’m the CEO of Prevent Direct Access (PDA).
Sorry to hear about your past experience from 2020. PDA is under new ownership since 2022. The previous team is no longer involved. We have a great new dev & support team, and customer satisfaction and support is our main priority.
The lowest tier we sell is a 3-site license, which allows for your main site, and dev/staging sites. So the 3-site license is meant for that. If you have a dev/staging for each of your websites, then please check out our higher tier licenses (10 and 15 sites).
