Interested in creating your own dropshipping eCommerce business with WooCommerce or Shopify?
While these eCommerce platforms have made it easy to create an online store, they still can’t help you with the hardest part of launching a dropshipping business – finding quality products to sell and easily fulfilling those orders so you can truly benefit from the “hands off” nature of dropshipping.
That’s where Sell The Trend comes in. It helps you find hot products to sell on your store based on data. Then, it also makes it easy to import those products to your store and even lets you fulfill orders with one click on AliExpress.
In our Sell The Trend review, I’ll take a hands-on look at this tool and show you how it can help you more effectively create/manage a dropshipping store.
Sell The Trend Review: Feature List
The biggest feature in Sell The Trend is that it helps you discover high-quality, trending products based on what’s selling at other stores.
Basically, instead of trying to guess which products are selling, you can use data to quickly find products that work. You’ll be able to use different search options and you’ll also get tons of filter options to find products that fit your niche.
For each product, you’ll also be able to open a detailed interface to see trends, pricing, popularity, etc.
There’s one global NEXUS product search that analyzes four different marketplaces:
- AliExpress
- Amazon
- Shopify Products
- Shopify Stores
However, you can also drill-down into specific marketplaces. For example, you could choose to only browse trending AliExpress products that offer USA shipping.
Once you find some products that you like, you can automatically sync them to your WooCommerce or Shopify store with a single click. You can also choose different fulfillment sources and even quickly swap out fulfillment sources in the future without needing to create a new product.
If you’re selling products from AliExpress, Sell The Trend also includes an AliExpress API integration that offers one-click order fulfillment from your Sell The Trend dashboard. Your WooCommerce/Shopify store will automatically sync new orders to Sell The Trend and then you can fulfill those orders with a single click.
You also get some other useful tools to help you:
- Discover Facebook audiences to create targeted ads for your products.
- Create videos based on a product’s images.
- Research competitor stores to find out what they’re doing.
Finally, one other thing that stuck out to me is that Sell The Trend includes lots of useful onboarding, documentation, and training videos to help you learn how to use the platform and create a successful dropshipping store.
Sell The Trend Pricing
Sell The Trend is a premium service, but you can test it out for free with a seven-day free trial.
After that, the service costs $39.97 per month with monthly billing. Or, if you opt for annual billing, you’ll get two months free.
Hands-On With Sell The Trend
Now, let’s go hands-on and I’ll show you how Sell The Trend works. For this review, I’m specifically focusing on the WooCommerce integration, but remember that it also works with Shopify.
Completing the Basic Setup
When you first sign in to Sell The Trend, it launches a quick setup wizard where you can enter some details about how you want to use the tool:
Then, it will prompt you to choose your eCommerce platform and connect your store.
To set it up on WooCommerce, all you need to do is enter the URL to your store:
Then, Sell The Trend will connect to WooCommerce using the WooCommerce API – all you need to do is follow the prompt to give it access by clicking Approve.
And that’s it!
If you want to get started right away, it lets you push one of its suggested products to your store, which is nice to get a taste of how the tool works. I’ll skip that for now and go straight to setting things up.
The main Sell The Trend dashboard looks like this:
Let’s go through some of the actions that you can take…
Finding Products
Sell The Trend gives you two main ways to find products:
- The NEXUS – this is an AI-powered tool that discovers hot/trending products from multiple marketplaces.
- Explorers – this tool lets you browse products from specific stores/marketplaces such as AliExpress, Amazon, and Shopify.
Let’s look at The NEXUS first. It gives you five ways to browse products:
- Hot products
- Trending products
- On the rise products
- New products
- All products
For example, you would go to Hot Products to find something that’s “already arrived” or On The Rise to find products that are growing quickly but haven’t hit the mainstream yet.
In each area, you’ll be able to narrow down the products with:
- Keyword search
- Category drop-down filter
- Niche drop-down filter
- Product detail filters, such as price, number of orders, whether it ships to the USA, shipping method, etc.
- Product sort options
In each product listing, you’ll also find important details such as:
- The number of orders for that product
- The cost, selling price, and margin
- When the product was found
- The different stores/marketplaces selling that product (e.g. AliExpress, Amazon, etc.)
If you want to see more detail about a specific product that you found, you can click the Product Research button to open a lot more information on that product, including a chart showing its popularity, the individual stores where it’s selling, and more:
The Explorer tools offer similar search/filter options. The key difference here is that you can browse products from a specific marketplace (like AliExpress). You’ll also get additional options to filter by:
- New stars
- Hot products
- Hidden gems
As with The NEXUS, you can also click the Product Research button to learn more about any product.
Finally, Sell The Trend also offers its own Chrome browser extension that you can use while browsing products directly on AliExpress. This extension helps you research products and also import them to your store. Speaking of…
Pushing Products to WooCommerce
Now, let’s talk about how you can add all of those cool products that you find to your WooCommerce store.
To save you time, Sell The Trend offers a one-click import feature that can automatically add any product that you find to your WooCommerce store.
Whether you’re using The NEXUS or one of the explorers, all you need to do is click the Add To Store or Add button on the product that you want to sync:
This will open a window where you can make a few key decisions for syncing the product to your store:
- Choose which store you want to pull the product details from. You’ll also be able to fully edit all of this information such as the product title, price, etc.
- Configure product variants (if applicable).
- Choose your fulfillment source. For example, if the product is available on multiple marketplaces, do you want to fulfill it from AliExpress or Amazon or somewhere else?
One nice feature with pricing is that you can set up your own pricing rules to automatically calculate the price according to the margin that you want to hit.
Once you’re happy with everything, all you need to do is click the Push To Store button and Sell The Trend will automatically sync the product to your WooCommerce store using all of the details that you entered.
In my testing, the sync happened immediately and it also successfully imported all the product details:
You’ll also be able to manage the product(s) in Sell The Trend, which is really convenient because this lets you quickly update the fulfillment source without needing to edit the product in WooCommerce:
Fulfilling Orders
To help you streamline your order fulfillment, Sell The Trend includes a tool that lets you easily fulfill orders on AliExpress with just a few clicks (using the AliExpress API). To do this, you’ll first need to sync your AliExpress account with Sell The Trend.
Then, when someone orders a product via your WooCommerce store, that order will automatically show up in your Sell The Trend dashboard when you go to My Stores β Orders. You can quickly see its status:
Then, to order the product and ship it to your customer, all you need to do is click the Order Product button. That will open a popup where you can choose the shipping method and confirm the order:
Creating Ads and Videos
In addition to helping you discover products and fulfill orders, Sell The Trend also helps you create ads and videos to get people to purchase your products in the first place. You can find these options, along with some other useful features, in the Tools tab.
For example, the Audience Builder helps you create Facebook audiences:
You can also find these tools when doing product research on an individual product. The Product Research popup suggests Facebook targeting and also gives you an option to quickly create a video from a product’s images:
And that’s most of what Sell The Trend can do. Let’s recap as we finish out our review…
