Getting Started with SUMO Coupons – WooCommerce Coupon Plugin

Here we will explain the basic terminologies of SUMO Coupons.

1) Modes of Operation

i) Credit Coupon Mode

In this mode, the coupons earned by the user will be displayed on My Account page and Cart page.
The User can add certain products to cart.
Once a user used the coupon in the cart, the discount value associated with the coupon will be applied and product price will be reduced accordingly.

Note:

Once the earned coupon got expired, then the coupon will be removed from both Cart and My Account Page.

ii) Email Coupon Mode

In this mode, when the user earns a coupon, the coupon code will be sent to their registered email id.
Earned coupons will not be displayed on My Account Page as well as the Cart Page.
The User needs to apply the Coupon Code which is sent to their email Id in the WooCommerce Coupon field and they will get a discount value which is associated with that coupon.

iii) Auto Apply Coupon Mode

In this mode, the eligible coupon will be automatically applied to the cart once the action is performed successfully.

iv) Credit and Email Coupon Mode

Coupons earned by the user will be displayed on My Account Page and Cart Page. Also, the coupon code will be sent to their registered email id. The User can make use of the coupon as per their preference.

Note:

Coupon cannot be used once the Coupon codes are expired.

2. Coupon Settings

Coupon value will be calculated based on the settings configured in the coupon settings for each action such as Product Purchase Coupons, Action Coupons etc.

3. Coupon Types

Two Types of Coupon can be offered

Cart Discount – A Fixed amount will be discounted from the cart total.
Cart % Discount – Percentage of the Cart Total will be offered as discount.

Ways to Earn and Use the Coupons in SUMO Coupons – WooCommerce Coupon Plugin

1) Product Purchase Coupons using SUMO Coupons – WooCommerce Coupon Plugin[Supports All Four Modes]

Workflow

Site Admin can create rules for awarding Coupons based on the Cart Total amount purchased by the user.
The User will earn coupon once the order status reached the status selected in the Order Status settings(except Auto Apply Coupon Mode).

Configuration

Select the Mode which you want in Mode of Operation option.
Select First Matched Rule or Last Matched Rule in Rule Priority list box.
Create a new rule by adding an Add Rule button where you have to set the following option,
i) Name for the particular rule
ii) Cart total amount in Minimum and Maximum cart totals fields
iii) Choose Cart Discount or Cart % Discount on Coupon Type drop-down menu and give the value in Coupon Value field.
You can create multiple rules by using the above steps.
If the Cart Total matches in more than one rule, then Coupon will create based on priority selected in Rule Priority option.
You can provide access/restriction to earn the coupon for,
i) All Products
ii) Include Products
iii) Exclude Products
iv) All Categories
v) Include Categories
vi) Exclude Categories
Select the Order Status in Coupon is awarded when order status becomes the field. So that the coupon will be given to Users only when the Order Status reached to the selected status(except Auto Apply Coupon Mode).
The Settings has to be saved.

Settings

i) Credit Coupon Mode

Cart total matched with the RULE 1
By completing the purchase, the user will earn 2% Cart Total discount coupon.

As per the settings configured, 2% Cart Total discount coupon will be earned once the order status reached to Completed.

The earned coupon is displayed on the My Account Page.
It can be used to get a discount on future purchase.

The earned coupons will be displayed on Cart Page when the user tries to make a purchase.
The User can make use of the coupon to get the discount.

ii) Email Coupon Mode

The User will get 2% discount on their cart total when they use the coupon code in their future purchases.

iii) Auto Apply Coupon Mode

The User’s current Cart Total is not matched with any of the rules created. So coupon is not applied.

The Users current cart total has been matched with the RULE 2 and coupon has been applied automatically.
The User can complete the purchase with the discounted amount.

iv) Credit and Email Coupon Mode

This mode is the combination of Credit and Email Coupon Mode.
Coupons earned by the user will be displayed on My Account Page and Cart Page. Also, the coupon code will be sent to their registered email id.

Workflow

Once the user performs any of the actions successfully which are listed above, the coupon value associated with that action will be awarded to the user.

Configuration

Select the Mode which you want in Mode of Operation option.
Enable the options for the actions which you wish to provide the Coupons.
Select Coupon Type and set the value in their respective fields.
Save the settings.

Output

For example, here are the outputs of Account Sign Up for all the modes of operations

Account Sign Up

i) Credit Coupon Mode

Upon Successful registration, 50% Cart Discount has been added to the account.

ii) Email Coupon Mode

Upon Successful registration, Coupon will be emailed to the user’s registered email id.

iii) Auto Apply Coupon Mode

For Auto Apply Mode, a product has to be selected by the site admin and will be added to the cart upon successful account creation. The Coupon will be applied to the cart.

iv) Credit and Email Coupon Mode

Upon Successful registration, Coupon will be displayed in the user’s email account as well as emailed to the user’s registered email id.

3. Social Coupons using SUMO Coupons – WooCommerce Coupon Plugin [Supports all the 4 Modes]

Workflow

The User performs a social action on a product which is associated with a coupon.
Once the action is completed successfully, the coupon value associated with that action will be awarded to the user.

Note:

The coupon will be awarded based only based on call back.
A Callback is not supported by the following Social Networks. So, Coupons will be awarded as soon as the social buttons are clicked.

Configuration

Select the Mode of Operation.
Enable the social networks through which you like to promote your products.
Select Coupon Type and set the value in their respective fields.
Save the settings.

For Auto Apply Mode, we have provided two options in the settings.

While sharing the product,

1). The same product has to be added to the cart

2). The product selected in the settings have to be added to the cart

As per the settings, Once user shared the product on Facebook, they will be automatically redirected to the cart with the same product and the corresponding coupon will be automatically applied to the cart.
The User can complete the purchase with the discounted amount.

iv) Credit and Email Coupon Mode

4. URL Coupons using SUMO Coupons – WooCommerce Coupon Plugin [Supports all the 4 Modes]

Workflow

Site Admin can associate a coupon code with any URL.
Once the user clicks the URL, they will be redirected to the corresponding page and the coupon value assigned to that URL will be added to the User Account.

Note: Coupon URL feature will work only for Logged in Users.

Configuration

Select the Mode of Operation.
Set name for Coupon URL.
Enter the URL where the user has to be redirected when they access the link. If left empty, by default Site URL will be considered as Base URL.
Select the Coupon Type and set the value.
Time Limit and Coupon Usage can be configured.
Generate the URL.
You can generate the Multiple URL by following the above steps.
Once the URL is generated, the following details will be listed in the table,
i) Name of the Coupon URL
ii) Coupon URL
iii) Reward Coupon Value
iv) Reward Coupon Type
v) Date
vi) Time Limit
vii) Count Limit
viii) Current Usage Count
ix) Delete

Note:

If the Time Limit is set as Limited, then the generated URL will be expired based on the expiry time configured.
If the Count Limit is set as Limited, then the User cannot earn coupon by accessing the URL once the usage count has exceeded.

For Auto Apply Mode, you have to select the product by searching the product name in the corresponding field.

Once the user clicked the URL, they will be redirected to cart page with the product selected in the settings and fixed discount $10 will be applied to the cart automatically.
