Introduction

Last weekend I had the opportunity to be a part of WordCamp Europe, and what an event it was!

This was the first WordCamp spanning multiple countries, and attracted over 700 participants. There were speakers from all over the world and the networking opportunities were amazing. I met a lot of people who are regular readers of WP Mayor, and others who are users of my RSS feed aggregator plugin, it’s always nice to meet such people face to face and get to know them better. It’s a great way of getting feedback too, in fact I came back re-invigorated and with new plans for my WordPress projects.

A big thanks goes out to all those who were involved in organising this event, considering it was the first WordCamp Europe I was amazed that there were practically no hiccups and the whole event was so smooth. The location (Leiden, Netherlands) was great too, and the weather favoured us.

I’d like to end by encouraging all those of you who have never been to WordCamps before to save up some money and do your best to attend the next one, you really get so much value from such events.

  1. I concur with everybody. It was a great opportunity to renew contacts, and create new ones.

For a business like ours, it’s critical to meet people physically to move in the right direction.

  2. Hey Jean, too bad we didn’t meet (simply too many people, and too little time :). Will catch up with you using online media 🙂

  3. Yeah! It was an awesome experience and it was nice to meet you! Next 5 years tickets for me too! 🙂
