SEO Plugins For WordPress

In terms of search engine optimization and Internet marketing, one topic that continues to trend is structured data and schema.

If implemented correctly, this type of plugin may help improve your WordPress SEO as Google has actually said that structured data may become an SEO ranking factor.

As a quick refresher, structured data is SEO website code that enables you to tag content on your web pages to give Google clarity about the type of data that resides on your web page(s). If tagged correctly with Schema.org vocabulary, structured data increases the chances that Google and the other search engines will promote more of your content on the actual SERPs (search engine results pages).  For more information on how structured data and schema works and how it improves your website’s SEO, you might want to check out this Duct Tape Marketing post on Structured Data and Schema.

Google has detailed guidelines on structured data here.

Examples of Structured Data In The Wild

You know the star ratings you see from time to time in search results? Yep, that is an example of a rich snippet, which is the effect of properly applying structured data and schema to a web page. This is the kind of search engine bling we all want!

Top 5 Reasons Why This SEO WordPress Plugin Is Best-In-Class

If you run a search for schema plugins or structured data plugins, you will see many types are out there. Here is a short list of what makes this plugin special:

  1. It’s in JSON-LD:  The is the latest and greatest schema format and likely Google’s preferred format.
  2. It’s comprehensive: One of the driving forces for creating this plugin is because most of the schema plugins out there address one type of markup (such as product ratings). This plugin addresses all of the markup that Google covers in its guidelines.
  3. Its super easy to use: Most of the schema plugins you will find are messy because they use a more “invasive” format like RFDa or microdata, which means many have multi-step process, button tagging and/or short code copy-pasting. This plugin provides super easy form and field tagging.
  4. It was created by an SEO, for SEOs…but easy enough for any web designer and even business owners to use.
  5. Product Ontology: One special feature is the ability to add Product Types Ontology in order to add alternative business types for your business. This is a great feature because you don’t have to pin your business down to one type, and can add multiple categories that accurately define the scope of your product or service offering.

This is a great new plugin that is coming in at the perfect time so that you can stay ahead of the SEO curve.

  6. by looking at your example, structured data is nothing more then having ratings next to your index? which is ok I guess, but I was looking for a way to expand my listing, if you go to google, and search www.wpmayor.com, then you will see what I am talking about.
    thanks

  7. Hi Phil,

  8. Hi Phil,

I just want to verify with you if there is a way of doing breadcrumbs markup with this plugin. I haven’t installed it yet but i’m looking forward to for one of my clients.

    Thanks for the article

  9. Thanks for the plugin – Can it be used in conjunction with structured data highlighted in Webmaster tools? e.g. I have a footer with address across all pages – can I mark this up in webmaster tools or should I ignore that if I have added to the general area in plugin.

Also – do I re-input all the text minus tha markup to the article field of the plugin on individual pages?

  10. Hi Phil,

Just installed your plugin on 2 of my blogs. I’m Using the Article Schema for most of my snippet definitions. Should I be putting in the “Description” and “Article Body” in the definitions? They are not required? For the image size, the width of the image needs to be over 800px. Most of the image I put in my article are an image to a product I’m promoting in my article. I get a warning on the image.width as it being not being wide enough. Does it matter if the image.width generates a warning when testing the schema?

  11. I like your plugin… How does this plugin compare to the “Schema App Structured Data” on WordPress.org ?

  14. Phil,

your plugin looks very interesting, thanks for all the info!

I was wondering if the plugin also supports a “a shopping aggregator page that lists a single product, along with information about different sellers offering that product” )

    Thanks,

    Markus

  15. Hi Dale, there should be no issue with Yoast, but I agree you should double-check and make sure there is no duplicate schema, or multi format schema across you site.

  16. Hi,

Most importantly, and where all others plugins that I have tried fail, is will it work nicely with Yoast SEO or conflict?

Yoast SEO does some structured data but nowhere near all of it but I don’t want to give up all its other features.

If this plays nicely I will love it forever.

    Dale.
