A big happy birthday to the WordPress mayor!
Yes, WP Mayor is 2 years old.Β It’s been another great year and all the work put into this website has been well worth the time. I also spoke at WordCamp Seville this year, which was a great experience.
A lot of content was produced this year, and this had a positive impact on the blog, as readership levels have gone up.
We also have a new logo, designed by Kenneth Cachia, thanks!
Here are some of our achievements during the past year:
- A steady rise in traffic, reaching and going past the 25,000Β unique visitors/month mark (Google Analytics).
- AroundΒ 350Β published posts.
- Twitter followers:Β 13,745+
- 955+ comments (thanks!)
- Alexa Rank: 38,764
If you’re interested in how things changed from last year, you can see some stats on last year’s birthday post.
Another development this year was the launch of WP RSS Aggregator, a free plugin that did quite well with upwards of 12,000 downloads.

Your blog is one of my inspiration…It will be great if you stop by my blog and direct me how I am doing now.
Thanks a lot
Good to know, keep up the good work on your site, you’ve made a good choice by going with Genesis.
Hurray! Happy birthday, WP Mayor! Congrats on your success and all the best for many more successful years to come.
Thanks you!
Great, Jean! Your blog is like those kids who look older than they are (not because they look worn out of course, but because of their maturity)
Thanks for the encouragement Luis π
Congratulations, Jean! Great job! I wish you even more success and good luck in all your further endeavors!
Congratulations!
Keep up the good work and best wishes for another successful year.
B-)
Thanks Fernando!
Congratulations Jean! I’d be interested to kmow how you built WP Mayor to the level you have, maybe a good subject for a future blog post? π
Thanks Lisa, that is something which is indeed interesting and a good subject for a blog post. You might want to check out my presentation in Seville, as I gave an overview of the WP Mayor story:
Thanks Jean! I watched it this morning and found it very interesting, sounds like you took a very methodical approach to building and promoting your site, there were a couple of plugins you mentioned I hadn’t heard of, and congratulations on releasing your own plugin too, I’ll have to check that one out. Looking forward to any blog posts you write on the subject aswell… I spend a lot of time designing sites for other people but have just launched my own so it’s especially interesting for me to hear how you build that initial following.
Welcome Lisa, I also started Fitforblogging.com recently, and I will be sharing some of my traffic building methods there too, so you might want to follow that blog too.
