You can enter static values or use calculations, such as increasing all the selected products’ prices by 10%, decreasing their existing stock status by X, and more.

Keep reading our hands-on Bulk Table Editor review to learn how this plugin can help you more efficiently administer and edit products on your WooCommerce store.

Bulk Table Editor Review: A Quick Summary of Features

At a high level, Bulk Table Editor does exactly what it says – it gives you a table view where you can edit WooCommerce products in bulk.

Of course, the usefulness is in what you can do inside that table interface.

To start with, you can edit virtually every field for your products including their:

  • Name
  • Featured status
  • Stock numbers and stock status
  • Price
  • Sale price and sale start/end dates
  • SKU
  • Tags
  • Dimensions (weight, length, width, height)
  • Images
  • Etc.

Basically, if it shows up in the product data box, you can probably bulk edit it with Bulk Table Editor.

Bulk Table Editor also integrates with a lot of other popular WooCommerce extensions and the custom fields that they add, which lets you adapt it to your own workflows. For example, it works with:

The most useful thing, however, is that you can use calculations to bulk update details instead of just entering static information.

For example, let’s say you want to increase the price of some/all of your products by 10%. Rather than manually doing these calculations yourself, you can just tell Bulk Table Editor to increase the price by 10% and it will calculate the right value based on each product’s starting price.

You’ll get these customization options for almost all of the fields that you’ll edit. Here are some other examples of how you can use calculations:

  • Autogenerate a unique SKU for products or add content before/after the existing SKU.
  • Round prices up/down to the nearest value.
  • Increase/decrease the existing stock value.

Finally, you’ll also get tools to filter out certain products, such as products in specific categories or products that are on sale. You can also search for products using keywords or SKU numbers.

Example Use Cases for Bulk Table Editor

There are a lot of niche use cases for being able to bulk edit WooCommerce products, but here are some of the most common examples:

  • Setting up sales – you can easily enter start/end dates for sales on some/all of your products. You can also change sale prices as needed to match your promotion. For example, if you’re running a sale on organic coffee, you could add a sale schedule to all the products in the “Organic Coffee” category with just a few clicks.
  • Updating stock status – easily increase/decrease stock status and/or change backorder behavior.
  • Delete products – bulk delete products that you’re no longer selling.
  • Edit vendor information – useful if you’re running a multi-vendor marketplace and need to make bulk changes.
  • Generate SKUs – generate SKUs for all your products with a single click.

These are just a few ideas! There are lots of use cases that might be unique to your store.

How to Use Bulk Table Editor

Now, let’s go hands-on with my own test site and I’ll show you how Bulk Table Editor works.

Exploring the Basic Bulk Table Editor

Almost all of Bulk Table Editor’s features are located in the table editor interface itself, which you can find by going to Products → Bulk Table Editor.

Initially, it will show the following fields:

  • Product name
  • Stock
  • Price
  • Sale price
  • Sale start
  • Sale end
  • Sale % (not bulk editable – just for your information)
  • Stock value (not bulk editable – just for your information)

To view additional fields, you can click the Other values button. That will open a table with the following fields:

  • Featured status
  • SKU
  • Tags
  • Backorder options
  • Stock status
  • Weight
  • Length
  • Width
  • Height
  • Image (not bulk editable)
Other values

If you’re using one of the plugin integrations that I mentioned above, you would also be able to see those fields.

Browsing and Filtering Out Certain Products

My test site only has 12 products, so it’s easy to view all the products right away. If you have lots of products, though, you can customize how many rows to display by default.

In the screenshots above, you might notice that there are more than 12 rows. That’s because three of the products are variable products, each with three variants.

You aren’t able to bulk edit the variant product titles, but you can bulk edit all of the other information for each variant. I’ve marked the variant products with a red square in the screenshot below:

Variable products

However, if you have hundreds of products, you’ll need a way to find the specific products that you want to bulk edit (unless you want to literally edit every single product on your store).

Bulk Table Editor gives you a few ways to do this.

One option is to use the drop-down filters in the top-left corner, which let you filter by:

  • Product category
  • Whether or not a product is on sale

Second, you can use the search box in the top-right to search by:

  • Text
  • SKU
  • Rows
Filter products

Using the keyword search can be especially useful if you have large datasets, especially with product variations.

For example, in my screenshot above you can see three entries for each variable product. If I wanted to, I could search for “coffee 500-g” to filter out only the 500 g variant of each product and make bulk edits there.

By using multiple keywords like this, you can create really specific filters even with large datasets.

Making Bulk Edits

Now, let’s get to the fun part – actually bulk editing your WooCommerce products.

There are two ways to make your edits:

  1. You can manually edit the row for individual products.
  2. You can use the top row to bulk edit all of the visible products, including using calculations.

There’s also a dedicated button to quickly remove the sale from all visible products.

Let’s say you want to increase the price of all the visible products by 5%. You would enter 5 in the top row of the column and then use the drop-down to choose Increase by %:

Bulk Table Editor change prices

As you saw above, the plugin will automatically apply the edit in the table view as soon as you enter the details. However, the edits will not be live until you hit the Save all button. So an example workflow here would be to:

  • Make the edit
  • Browse the updated data in the table to make sure everything looks right
  • Save your changes to make your bulk edits live

Let’s look at a few more examples…

One of the issues with a blanket percentage price increase/decrease is that you’ll end up with very random-looking prices. For example, $35.75, $9.45, etc. You’ll probably want to make your prices look less random, which is why Bulk Table Editor also includes an option to round prices up or down.

For example, after applying the percentage increase, you could run another edit to round the prices up to the nearest full dollar (or decimal, if you don’t want full amounts):

Bulk Table Editor round off feature

Another example would be setting start/end dates for sales. To bulk apply the same dates to all the visible products, you could use the date pickers in the Sale start date and Sale end date columns:

You’ll also get these same types of operators for the other fields.

For example, if you go to the SKU column, you can even have the plugin auto-generate a unique SKU for all the visible products;

Bulk Table Editor generate SKUS

Or, you could bulk apply new tags to a product and/or change the existing tags to all upper/lowercase.

You probably get the idea by now! It’s super easy to make your changes. Most importantly, nothing is permanent until you hit the Save all button, so you can easily undo any mistakes that you make.

Exploring the Settings Area

Bulk Table Editor also gives you a few other settings to configure the plugin, which you can access by going to WooCommerce → Settings → Bulk Table Editor.

The settings area is divided into two tabs:

  • General – this lets you configure basics for how the table editor functions. For example, you can have it open a certain category of products by default, choose how many products to display per page, control autofocus, and a few others.
  • Integration – this lets you set up integrations with some of the plugins I mentioned earlier, such as Wholesale for WooCommerce or Calculate Your Price.

Here are the options you get in the General tab:
