WP Mayor is brought to you by the RebelCode team. Ever since the early 2000s, our team has been involved with the web in one way or another, developing and honing skills that continue to help us till today.
Providing honest recommendations
WP Mayor itself has been around since 2010.
The blog began as a way for us to document what we were learning as we ran a WordPress development agency building websites for clients all around the world.
We wanted a way to keep track of the products and services that we use, so we thought we might as well make that information public to help others like us.
This is what kept us honest from day one. Although that agency no longer exists, our philosophy is still the same.
Every product and service recommended on WP Mayor has been tested and/or used by our team. Having been involved with WordPress for over a decade, we’ve had plenty of time to understand what makes a product worthy of a recommendation from us.
Every recommendation is based on our team’s extensive experience and without bias. You can read more about this below.
Advertising on WP Mayor
You will find ads in various places across WP Mayor. As we do with our content, we only accept advertisers who provide top quality products and services, so you can rest assured that even though an ad is paid for, it’s still a product we would recommend.
Paid advertisements help us keep the lights on throughout the year. As a completely self-funded project, WP Mayor relies on such income to pay our team of writers and editors as we continue to produce quality content for our readers on a weekly basis.
Affiliate links keep us going
In various posts across our website, we use affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one of these affiliate links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. The price you pay remains exactly the same and the commission is paid solely by the affiliate partner in question.
The relationships that have come about through these affiliate partnerships are what allow us to continue learning more about the products we recommend, and to offer exclusive discounts that can actually save you money.
Aside from that, you’ll also notice that every time we use an affiliate link, it is backed by a description or comparison that provides you with insight into why that recommendation is being made. This is based on hours of research and testing by our team of experts who have combined decades of experience in the web development industry.
Does this make us biased?
No, we stand behind every recommendation we make.
To elaborate on what we’ve mentioned above, every recommendation we make, whether the link is part of an advertisement or an affiliate relationship, is one that we believe in and stand behind. The financial aspect simply prioritises when a product and service is being researched and tested, but it does not impact the validity and genuine nature of our recommendations.
So much so that we sometimes refuse to review a product that we know would not meet our standards. The few times that we have tested a product and it hasn’t been up to scratch, we have passed on our recommendations to the owners and developers of that product. It is then up to their team to decide whether to work on our recommendations and come back to us in the future, or to simply refuse to have our review published. Since our paid product analysis service is based on providing as much value to the product owner as the reader, the final publishing decision comes down to them.
We also recommend and link to products and services that we have no affiliation or partnership with. Many links across our website are purely based on what we think is the best tool for the job, without any potential financial gain to be had on our end.
If you ever come across a recommendation that doesn’t look right, it may have not been updated in a while, so please do comment on the blog post in question and our team will look into it as soon as we can.
